The Ultimate Guide to Disney’s Genie+ Service

Discover the magic of the Genie+ service with step-by-step tips to experience Disney’s most popular attractions.

Disney Genie+

Getting Started:

These Genie+ Service tips will be your key to a smooth theme park day. Available for purchase starting at midnight of your ticket’s valid use period, Genie+ allows all guests to begin making selections as early as 7am.

Individual Lightning Lanes also begin sale at 7am for Walt Disney World Resort Guests. For those not staying on Disney property, you will need to wait until your desired park opens for the day to make any Individual Lightning Lane selections.

There is no set price for the Genie+ service, nor the Individual Lightning Lane attractions, as they do fluctuate daily based on time of year and park capacity.

How It Works:

Make sure you have the My Disney Experience application downloaded to your mobile device to get started. Once you’ve got your theme park tickets linked to your account, it is time to begin planning!

If you plan to park hop from one theme park to another, make sure to select “Multiple Parks” so you can make Genie+ selections no matter where you decide to go!

If you are doing one theme park per day, select the park you plan on visiting. Keep in mind you cannot modify the park once your purchase has gone through.

Once you select the park or multiple parks, make sure to select everyone in your party, and you will be ready to purchase the service.

Once the service is purchased, select the three lines in the bottom right corner, and then the Rides, Shows & Lightning Lane Entry.

This is where you will access the list of attractions you have to choose from.

Clicking on that previous tab will bring you here, to the Tip Board. You may begin making your selections by clicking on the LL Disney Genie+ tab, and booking the experience of your choosing.

So, What is The Difference Between Genie+, Virtual Queue, and Individual Lightning Lane?

Genie+ gives you access to any attraction except for the Individual Lightning Lane/Virtual Queue attractions.

Virtual Queue attractions are complimentary to guests with valid park admission, so long as you can select a boarding group at 7am, or 1pm.

You may purchase Genie+ without purchasing Individual Lightning Lanes, or you may purchase Individual Lightning Lanes without purchasing Genie+, as these services operate separately. Below is a breakdown of each component and what it entails:

Virtual Queue Attractions:

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind (Epcot) and Tron: Lightcycle Run (Magic Kingdom)

Individual Lightning Lane Attractions:

  • Disney’s Hollywood Studios: Rise of the Resistance
  • Epcot: Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind
  • Disney’s Animal Kingdom: Flight of Passage
  • Magic Kingdom: Seven Dwarves Mine Train and Tron: Light Cycle Run

How Do I Book A Virtual Queue?

Select the Join Virtual Queue tab on the home page of the My Disney Experience app. You will see an option for both Guardians of the Galaxy and Tron.

You may only have one Virtual Queue selected at a time for your party. But you can make up to two per day, so long as you have scanned into your first queue.

Regardless of your ticket type, so long as you have valid park admission you can join a Virtual Queue boarding group for Guardians of the Galaxy or Tron at 7am.

Although certain tickets do not require reservations, you must be scanned into the appropriate park as it relates to the attraction if you are looking to join the 1pm queue.

Due to another recent theme park update to all-day park hopping, you can make a secondary Virtual Queue for the attraction you have not yet experienced, so long as you have already experienced the first one by 1pm.

Guardians of the Galaxy and Tron live in the same area; you would just have to pick which attraction you are making the Virtual Queue for by selecting either the Epcot icon or the Magic Kingdom icon.

To Wrap it all Up…

Genie+ is here to help! It is easy to get overwhelmed, but remember these tips!  Come to the parks with a few top attractions in mind, and make sure to book those first!

Remember, you are not alone! There are resources everywhere available to you if you need help. Guest Relations windows are located at the beginning of each park’s entry. There are also Guest Relations windows outside each park’s entry and the lobby inside each park. The Guest Experience Team is located under blue umbrellas throughout each park to answer any questions you may have midday!

Good luck and happy planning!
